The beneficiary of the event will be Daughters Beyond Incarceration, a safe haven for girls with incarcerated parents. DBI, a charity which elevates the unheard voices of Black girls ages 8-18 with incarcerated parents, by effecting change in their lives. DBI confronts the high dropout rates, lack of data and research into their experiences and traumas, and works passionately to address the unique challenges they encounter to strive for a brighter future for these resilient young women. Of course, helping children always helps women – their mothers – as well, which is a perfect fit for the mission of Muses. We wanted to select a charity for this event that especially benefits the community where our venue is located.
